“I’m good, and you?”

Emily Williams LGPC Psychotherapist in Frederick

How many times have you heard yourself saying these words? Then you realize, actually I’m not good… it’s really been pretty tough lately.

Maybe it happens when you’re at the grocery store checkout, or chatting with a friend who has a lot on their plate and you don’t want to add one more thing

What would it be like to hear “how are you?” and be able to say “I’m good” more days than not … and mean it!

Why Me?

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important ingredients for success in therapy. I am a psychodynamically trained therapist, so I will walk with you on your healing journey to find the answers. But, you’ll be the one to discover the answers that are right for you along the way.

Challenges that might be bringing you to therapy may include:

  • Life transitions (changing jobs, empty nest, new baby, etc.)

  • Relationship stress

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Post Traumatic Stress

  • ADHD

  • A little about me; I am a therapist, military spouse, new mom, lifelong learner, and an animal lover. When I need to recharge you can often find me on a family hike or spending time with some of my favorite animals.

I started my mental health career working in a community mental health setting serving clients in their homes. Then, I was fortunate to be able to work out in the field in an animal assisted psychotherapy (AAT) environment. I have been working in private practice since 2020 and am currently pursuing my animal assisted therapist credential.

Individual, couples and family sessions are currently being scheduled for December 2023.

    Maryland License Number LGP12065

Clinical Supervision provided by Ashley Saltzman, LCPC, NCC, Board Approved Supervisor

  • Earned passing with distinction recognition for capstone project on misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis of ADHD in adult individuals

  • Became increasingly interested in pursuing a career as a therapist after transcribing hours of therapy sessions as a research assistant

You do better in the gym with a trainer; you don't figure out how to cook without reading a recipe. Therapy is not something to be embarrassed about.”
